Tips on how to get started with your weight loss journey

It can be difficult to sustain motivation to eat healthy and workout, especially if you have a busy schedule. Here are some tips you can try to kick start your weight loss journey the right way.

Tip #1 Write your goals down 

You can write it on paper or your phone using note apps and revisit it daily. If you are not constantly reminding yourself about where you are going, chances are you’ll find yourself drifting further from your goal.

Tip #2 Set a realistic plan 

Losing 20 lbs in a month is not sustainable or healthy in the long-run. A lot of people set their short term goals too extreme which inevitably leads them to failure due to “burnout” or not feeling like “anything is changing.” 

We tend to overestimate what we can do in the short term but severely underestimate what we can do in the long run. It is recommended a pace of 0.5-1.5 lbs of fat loss per week so we can see progress while keeping food and energy levels high.

Tip #3 Find an accountability partner

Being out of shape is caused by ONE thing in most cases: lack of accountability to yourself to follow through with exercise and nutrition. Thus, we can’t solve the problem efficiently by you trying to hold yourself accountable. 

If your willpower failed you in the past, doing it alone is not the answer. Find a friend, family member, or coach who can hold you accountable, guide you, and make sure you are staying true to your word. Actions create results so having words of encouragement paired with the occasional nudge to get going can make a huge difference.
